Green beans and peppers

Image
We got green beans growing! Can you see them? Here's a better look. I'm also letting these gypsy peppers grow a bit more. Apparently they turn orange-red as they ripen. That should be fun. Summer is almost here. Enjoy the end of spring folks

Fruits of my labors

I harvested a couple peppers today. Woot woot! I chopped them up and threw them into the instant pot with an onion from a local farm. With the saute setting going, I carmelized the onions and added garlic, red wine and some premamde meatballs. I let that cook up for a bit and then added spaghetti sauce. After boiling some noodles, it came out quite delicious! The sweet peppers really helped balance the flavor.

It's alive!

It's happening! I got a pepper growing now. Should have some zucchini soon too.  Stoked!

We got flowers

Image
The peppers, zucchini and beans are flowering  I think that's a good thing. After they flower they start producing fruit right? Looking foward to that. I think I've got some pests in the kale as well. The leaves are gone from one of the kale planters. Oh well. Everything else is growing all right, although I have been moving the zucchini around. The leaves look wilted when in the direct 100 degree heat.

Rain means I do not have to water

It was rainy all weekend and got water fell from the sky again last night. I hope I don't get out of the habit of watering in the morning.

Growing

Things are going well. Still growing.

Beans, beans the magical fruit

Image
I had just one bean sprouting yesterday (Tuesday). Like magic, this is what it looks like today (Wednesday) Beans are magic.

Let's thin out these dwarves

I really have no idea what I'm doing, but I think this is too many dwarf tomato plants for this small container. The sprouts are large enough to pull pretty easily, so I watered the dirt to loosen it up and started the slaughter. Here's what it looks like now: Hopefully that's enough space to lets these plants grow strong.

Green baby

We've got some sprouting going on. I just planted these seeds on Friday (it's now Monday) and have already forgotten what's what. It will be interesting to see what grows.

Grow my pretties, grow!

Water and sunlight, it's good for plants right?

It has begun

Gardening has been on my to-do list for a while now. Now that I'm home all the time, I figured I'd get started. A few weeks ago I bought a dwarf tomato plant seeds and stuff that came in a can at the Winco. I put the soil it came with and the seeds in it and after a few days, the seeds sprouted. Woot woot! With that little victory, I decided to go all out -- well, as all out as my patio would allow. I already store two kayaks on the apartment's patio, but I thought I could get a few pots and small planters and be good to go. After an online order at Home Depot (total $47) and a run inside the big box store for plants and seeds ($17), I've got some things that will hopefully grow. I trimmed the "wild" rose bush that grows in the corner down. Now I just have to wait and water and hope there's enough sunlight on my patio.
